LeBron, Cavs set franchise record with home win over Toronto

Basketball Betting Lines

02/03/2009 - Cleveland, OH (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - LeBron James finished with 33 points and seven rebounds, as the Cleveland Cavaliers set a franchise record for consecutive home wins with a 101-83 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

The Cavaliers improved to 23-0 as the host this season, breaking the previous 22-0 mark set during the 1988-89 campaign. Cleveland also became the first team to win at least its first 23 home games in a season since the Chicago Bulls (37 games) and the Orlando Magic (33 games) accomplished the feat in the 1995-96 season.

Daniel Gibson added 18 points of the bench, while Mo Williams ended with 16 points and nine assists for the Cavaliers, who have won three in a row and seven of eight overall.

Chris Bosh had 29 points and Jermaine O'Neal added 20 points and eight boards, but the Raptors lost for the third consecutive time. Andrea Bargnani had 10 points and 10 rebounds in Toronto's loss.

Despite being down 22 points after the first quarter, the Raptors got back in the game and were within 83-75 after a Bosh layup with 7 1/2 minutes remaining. But the Cavaliers countered with seven straight points -- four free throws from James and a three-pointer from Gibson -- to take a 15-point lead.

It was a back-breaking run for the Raptors, who didn't get within single digits the rest of the game as Cleveland held on for its 38th victory this season.

The Cavs were in full control early in the game, taking a 14-4 lead just over four minutes in after a James dunk. James later had a three-point play and a three-pointer to give Cleveland a 26-12 advantage, and the Cavs expanded the margin to 37-15 going into the second quarter.

Cleveland then held a 59-40 lead at halftime, though Toronto had a 13-3 run in the third quarter to trim its deficit. Bosh had four points in the stretch, including a layup, to bring the Raptors within 70-59 with 2 1/2 minutes left in the frame.

An O'Neal jumper in the final minute cut Cleveland's lead to 74-66 heading into the fourth. The Raptors got as close as 78-71 after a Bosh free throw, but Gibson answered with a trey to push Cleveland's lead back to double digits.

MySportsbook.com week 1 NFL lines

Now that the 2008 NFL schedule is finally out, it is only matter-of-course for lines on “Week 1” to follow.  Of course MySportsbook.com is the first to churn out odds for the NFL’s inaugural week for the upcoming season.   Expect a lot of fireworks the first Thursday night of the season as the defending champion Indianapolis Colts face off against the surprise of the 2008 season, the New Orleans Saints.  These teams were ranked #1 and #3 in the NFL respectively a season ago so a high scoring affair could be in order.  As of now, the Colts will be giving 6 points to the Saints; keep in mind the Saints were one of the better road teams last season going 6-3 SU and 7-2 ATS.  The first Monday night of the season will again provide a “double feature”. Coming off a disappointing season, the Cincinnati Bengals will look to get back to playoffs and improve their public image as they take on the AFC North favorite Baltimore Ravens.  The second game features a couple of teams that haven’t had too much success recently but each could make some noise if the NFC is as weak as it was last year as the San Francisco 49ers host the Arizona Cardinals. The most interesting game of the opening week will feature the NFC champion Bears as they hit the road to take on the NFL’s top team during last year’s regular season, the San Diego Chargers.
